The lesson of forgiveness

“Mom, why do you always expect me to forgive people even after they have done extremely wrong? “, the daughter said.

” Darling, its not for them its for you only. I am not saying to excuse them for what they have done, but to excuse yourself from the chapter you don’t want to be the part of anymore. Our life is not that story whose plot is decided by someone else deeds its ours only, we have to conclude every part of it. If you forgive anyone, that doesn’t mean you have to erase the memory. You simply choose to forgive to free yourself from that bitterness. Memory stays, not to be forgotten but to be remember as a valuable lesson of life. Free yourself even from those who are not sorry about their actions. Holding on anger only hurts you not them, “mother ended.

    1. How difficult it seems to free yourself from others deeds, haha. It is but not impossible atleast if it cost our own happiness, isn’t it?

  5. Memories are important not just the good, but also the bad – as you wrote we learn from them.
Anger being held within will boil over and eat you up from inside. No point keeping. Discharge it!

  11. Indeed! I agree with this line: ” If you forgive anyone, that doesn’t mean you have to erase the memory. You simply choose to forgive to free yourself from that bitterness.”

It’s not them who will suffer bitterness or insecurities, but it’s you. if you won’t forget people, even if they don’t ask for it, your heart will suffer from it. Freeing yourself from what they’ve done wrong with you is by forgiving them. And not forgetting because you learned from it, somehow.

Great post Sudershana! Keep inspiring! 😊

  16. A lesson to remember all our life. Forgiveness is partly for others and partly for us.
At times people don’t even feel guilty of what wrong they did, but then who is suffering? We. So it’s better to let go of what we don’t want to stay part of.
I loved the explanation of mum. 🙂
